If you had asked me how many illegal immigrants self-deported in 2025, I would have said 100k, 250k at the outside.
This article says 1.9 million have voluntarily self-deported and another 600,000 will have been deported by Trump’s ICE team. 2.5 million in total from the country’s (pick your estimate):
- 11 million (US Census Bureau, through 3.5 million surveys).
- 11 million (DHS/OHSS)
- 12.2 million (Center for Migration Studies)
- 13.7 million (Migration Policy Institute)
- 14 million (Pew Research Center)
- 15.4 or 15.8 million (Center for Immigration Studies)
- Yale/MIT researchers, thinking the above estimates were way too high, sought more accurate estimate. Instead, they realized those numbers were way too low. Their estimates, running 1,000,000 simulations (before Biden opened the floodgates) found that the 95% probability distribution was:
- 16.7 million (absolute lowest, using most conservative parameters)
- 22.1 million (most likely)
- 29 million (high estimate)

That’s a little over $200 billion off the American GDP of $29.18 trillion.

When ICE raids were reportedly planned for charlotte a few months ago, and word got around, the city basically looked like the pandemic. No traffic, empty stores, empty schools.
Methinks the illegals are way, way underestimated.
The good news is that Trump’s agenda is looking very effective on this front. Real wages are up and housing may moderate a bit.
