The Baldwin story is horrific and fascinating.

The legal issue is particularly interesting so I’m wondering if GR is lurking.
Where I come from, gunplay leading to a death, even if just play, is likely a manslaughter charge.
Baldwin was playing with a gun (acting out different ways of unholstering and firing it) and repeatedly pointing the gun at humans. He was “told” the gun was not loaded and could at most have assumed a risk that it had a blank in it.
Turns out it had a live round (one with a projectile). And he shot two people and killed one of them.
The question is whether he might face criminal charges. Many believe that because there is a professional chain of custody for weapons on a movie set, that Baldwin won’t be charged because he reasonably believed that on the advice of a professional the gun was not dangerous.
I can see that logic.
However if I were to engineer a process that allowed me to play with guns by pointing and clicking them at people (which is what his rehearsal was), and that process breaks down and I kill someone, shouldn’t I be criminally liable despite there being a “process” in place?
What’s the difference between Baldwin’s actions and the actions of a teenager that thinks he’s going to scare his buddies with an unloaded gun but shoots one instead?
Oh; and a psa for the non gun folks: All guns are loaded. If somebody points one at you, it’s a deadly threat. The fact that Halyna Hutchins had no problem with someone pointing and clicking a gun at her says she was poorly trained. And, no she was not filming.

Alec the actor will skate, based on no legal expertise on my part. Alec the producer however (he is listed on IMDB as a producer of the film), will indeed face a mountain of legal scrutiny, especially as the much of the crew had walked off earlier the day of the shooting due to unsafe conditions / overwork.
