In deference to Floyd and BLM, Biden committed to naming a black woman as his running mate.  This immediately narrowed his field to very few possibilities.

Valerie Jarrett?  No way.  She is one who works from the inside and has no experience as a candidate or successful public speaker. Canny political operator.

Stacy Abrams?  Ridiculous.  Totally unqualified and has blamed everyone but me and Beeg Dawg for her Georgia loss of the governorship a few years ago.  Chronic excuse maker. No gravitas.

Karen Bass?  Hell, no.  She has associations with the communist party and scientology which are non starters despite her ability and intelligence.  She has been an effective congresswoman.

Keisha Lance Bottoms? No national persona despite being mayor of Atlanta and not likely to help the Dems win in swing states.  Reasonably successful mayor compared to other left wingers in Dem run cities. Exists in Abrams shadow in Georgia and would piss Abrams off if she were chosen.

Val Demings?  Possibly.  A top cop from Orlando and now a congresswoman.  The problem is that she views BLM and other progressives with a lot more of a jaundiced eye than progressives want.  Not palatable to the extreme left wing of the Dem party and that is 35-40% of their voters.

Kamala Harris?   Where do I begin?  She just isn`t very serious.  Has not sponsored any significant legislation.  Not a particularly gifted speaker although effective with preening audiences.  She says what they want to hear emphatically.  Willing to spout the party line on any issue under any circumstance.  Comes from a one party state not in question and has limited appeal to working class whites who are necessary to win swing states.  She has an empathetic aura but lacks focus which doomed her Presidential campaign.

Susan Rice?  She is intelligent and willing to do the dirty work and knows DC inside out.  As I see it, she is transparently dishonest and willing to lie blatantly about anything as with Obama`s involvement with persecuting Trump and the Benghazi debacle.  She has never run for elected office and also would have limited appeal in swing states.  Her loose relationship with the truth will prove to be a fatal flaw like a time bomb should she be nominated.

One of the above will be picked but I see none of the above as effective VP candidates.  None would be a quality pick as President.  Rice would probably perform best because of her experience.  She is also by no means out of the woods with the Durham investigation.  Picking a black woman may have seemed a master stroke a month or two ago but I truly question whether eliminating the politically talented from the other demographics will serve Biden`s campaign well down the road because his field has been narrowed to candidates who all have major deficiencies.

Did he commit to a woman of color? I thought it was just a woman, as Warren is still in the mix. Then again, she is part Cherokee. . .

IMO, Elizabeth Warren is a worse pick than all of the above except two.  Biden has committed to a black women VP candidate in recent statements.

Perhaps the VA governor can present as a woman of color instead of straight black face?  Rachael Dossial, sp,…is she colorful enough?

So many choices Joe; so little time.

Condi Rice should be President.  She gets my vote.

Rocky, I disagree.  I can’t think of a single really good choice for VP as a democrat, other than Tulsi Gabbard.  Unless you wanted to think strategically as a GOP operative, and then I’d say take Pelosi, get her the hell out of congress.

You disagree to what exactly, RM?  If you are saying none of the above are good candidates, we are in definite agreement.  My entire point is that he has painted himself into a corner and has only lower tier candidates to choose from.  No argument about Gabbard being the best option.  She`s attractive as well as intelligent and has a military background but still a little too far to the left for me.

Condi Rice is not a Democrat obviously but I am hopeful somewhere down the road she will be on an R ticket.  Cotton/ C. Rice in 2024?

I disagree with you just for the fun of it sometimes Rocky.  As though you are going to vote for Biden…Gabbard would simply draw you toward the vice presidential debate (if there is going to be such a thing).  I don’t think he is any kind of corner, who is a dude on that side that you think is worth a tinker’s damned? El Gavino?

He might as well limit his choices to 50ish attorneys over 6`4″ tall and roundball background or talented, handsome and experienced ex-dentists with a chip on their shoulder and a bad temper.  I think he should choose Adam Schiff.
