Mick1Participant2.76 million illegal immigrants crossed our border, last year — we think. Foreign-born people number 15% of our population (legal and illegal). 70% of Americans support immigration. Here’s the Forbes 2022 immigration report:
Biden admits the southern border will be “chaotic for a while” as TItle 42 comes to a close. Laredo, El Paso and Brownsville have all declared a state of emergency. Wasn’t Kamala Harris supposed to have prevented this?

ParticipantToo bad it’s behind the WSJ paywall.
I’ll take flyer here. I believe 70% of Americans favor LEGAL immigration, not the shit show that is happening now.
There are roughly 40 M people in the country living below the poverty line who want and deserve a better life for themselves and their families.
Is it too much to ask liberals to help those who are already here first?

You’re right on both counts. And 12.3% of Californians live below the poverty line. That’s 4,797,000 people, more than the populations of Delaware, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, Alaska, and Vermont combined.

ParticipantI”d say Biden has been very successful at the border. It is exactly what his administration wants. You can include some of the so called Republicans too.
The kicker is the troops. He can play it tough with troops which is all for show and “chaotic” at the same time without any change in outcome. Win win for Joe. Lose Lose for the country and hapless political opposition. The press will go wild with it.
Pretty diabolically clever in my view.

I think you have confused inept with clever. Just saying…

Mick1ParticipantKissinger says it was a mistake for Germany to allow as many foreigners into their country as they have…and that it encourages Hamas.

rjnwmillParticipantA Polish prospective on immigration policy. It’s not obvious that he establishes a causal link to explain Poland’s relative over performance, however the observational record is growing. Macron had to ban Hamas demonstrations and yet a French teacher has been killed by an imported Chechen jihadist.

LegendKeymasterWe probably have as many jihadis in the U.S. as Gaza has after the last few years open borders.
Thank goodness it’s a big country. Some communities have been fully overrun by virulent antisemitism rooted in Islamist sentiment. Who else elects ilhan Omar to Congress?

Mick1Participant58% of New Yorkers say that migrants pose a serious problem and agree with Mayor Adams’ statement that the crisis could “destroy New York City.”
In a bipartisan result, at least 79% of Democrats, Republicans, independents, men, women, upstaters, downstaters, Blacks, whites, Latinos, Catholics, Jews and Protestants all agree that it is a serious problem.
Last month, Biden had a 20% edge over Trump in New York State. Yesterday’s poll, the lead has fallen to 9% (46% to 37%). And if you include RFK Jr. and Cornel West, Biden’s lead is just 7%. And consider that Biden defeated Trump by 23% in the presidential election.
