The President of Mexico, Andres Lopez Obrador, celebrates that there are 40 million Mexicans living in America, while stating that he opposes Mexican emigration.

For those of you keeping track, there are 1.6 million Americans in Mexico.

Fascinating to me Mick is wondering when it’s going to hit the fan for open borders. Seems to me the policy will fracture the Democratic coalition.

What are the long term consequences of importing a low skilled population that is heavily dependent on government services?

There are roughly 2.7 million Native Americans spread across the country. How do they feel about necessary services reductions as money is spread across annual illegal inflows equal to their population?

We’re starting to see the backlash with the two college admissions cases before the USSC. I think this is only the beginning. Reintroducing systemic racism/race based preferences is folly not policy. Let’s hope the nine wise souls understand and appreciate the perspectives of Sandra Day O’Conner and begin to introduce legal prohibitions against this foolishness before the executive branch tries to pervert eligibility rules governing social safety net programs.

my counter-argument, based on economics, is that the reduction of existing workforce makes immigration necessary.  I just want it well structured, with more economic benefit than burden on our governmental services.

I agree. In fact one recent ex-president proposed a skills based immigration screening regimen, didn’t he?  But that’s not what we have now is it?

I don’t disagree, and I think moderated, legal immigration is both necessary and preferred. But let’s face it…everyone wants to come here, including people we want, and people we don’t want.

Immigrant share of U. S. population is now 13.7%. The proportion has been climbing steadily ever since it was 4.7% in 1970.

Yuma is getting crushed. 5 million migrants have crossed the border since Biden was elected President.

Border city of Yuma is on the brink of collapse under ‘unprecedented’ migrant surge

Predictably, the Republicans can’t agree on what to do about it.

Early rift over immigration exposes House GOP’s tough path to consensus

How about enforcing existing laws?  I keep hearing about our broken immigration system. Nothing broken about it, except it has turned into a political football.

      1) Enforce existing immigration law.
      2) Grant amnesty to illegals entering before a certain date.  Not talking about citizenship, but providing a means to get illegals registered.  Any illegal not registered after a certain date will be returned to their country of origin if they are captured or detained by LE.
      3) No chain migration.
      4) Same rules for DACA.
      5) Illegals with a child or children born on US soil have an option of returning to their country of origin with kids or leave the kids in US, in foster homes or adoption.
      6) Illegals can apply for citizenship, with priority given to families who have been here the longest.

Oh – and don’t forget to build the damn wall.
