The news services were probably a tad conservative given it was all right there on video from the moment it happened.  the hesitance to call it an assassination attempt was particularly odd.

Trump lives under a lucky star.  I am very familiar with that 5.56 round the AR 15 primarily fires, and can assure you that even a grazing hit to his skull, just a half inch or so from his pierced upper ear, would have carved out a lot of skull with it.

Lead story on Google News this morning?

      Shannon Doherty Dies. . . .

Listening to CNN last night was pretty blasé as well. Couldn’t listen to Hannity try to report real news, so switched it on.

Loved Pelosi’s comments. Basically focuses it all about her and her brush (actually her husband’s) with political violence. .. .

And CBS radio was aghast that Trump said “Fight Fight Fight” after he was being secured and taken from the podium. . . .

Oh, and one other thing. I think CNN or CBS reported that the bleeding was from a shard of glass from the teleprompter. If they had bothered to look at the photos, both teleprompters were intact.

Lovely thoughts from the Dems. From a congressional staffer for the representative that penned legislation to take secret service protection away from Trump:

“I don’t condone violence but please get you some shooting lessons so you don’t miss next time oops that wasn’t me saying that,” Jacqueline Marsaw

Hey Cardcrimson: As you can imagine, I don’t condone any of this stuff, but since you’re making it political, just a reminder that Trump joked about Pelosi’s husband at a rally (everyone laughed) after he was beaten with a hammer nearly to death — not to mention the guy was trying to kill the Speaker of the House.

Donald Trump Jr. also mocked the attack on Paul Pelosi by sharing a meme on social media. The meme depicted a Halloween costume consisting of underwear and a hammer, with the caption “Got my Paul Pelosi Halloween costume ready.”

      Also from Trump Jr.:

The internet remains undefeated… Also if you switch out the hammer for a red feather boa you could be Hunter Biden in an instant

Also, a reminder that former President Trump also mused at a rally that the “Second Amendment people” could do something about Hillary Clinton choosing judges if she is elected president. Then then just a few weeks later he suggested her secret service detail should be removed “just to see what happens”.

Just a reminder that Trump told his Chief of Staff that Mike Pence deserved to be hanged.

A reminder that Trump called for Liz Chaney to face a military tribunal just the other day.

A reminder that Trump called for his former Joint Chiefs Chairman Mark Milley to be executed.

A reminder that Trump reposted a disturbing baseball bat photo next to Alvin Bragg, and threatened “death and destruction” if he (Trump) was charged.

A reminder that Trump reposted an image of Joe Biden hogtied on the bed of a pick-up truck.

A reminder that Trump promised to pay the legal bills if his supporters beat up protesters. He suggested they remove protesters “on a stretcher”. And told them to “knock the crap out of him” regarding another protester. In a speech in 2017 he also told police officers not to be “too nice” when putting suspects into police vehicles, suggesting they should not protect suspects’ heads when placing them in the cars.

A reminder that Trump praised Congressman Greg Gianforte for body-slamming a reporter.

A reminder that during the George Floyd protests, Trump mused that “when the looting starts, the shooting starts.”

And finally it should be noted that the shooter yesterday was a registered Republican and a member of a conservative second-amendment group. Reporters also spoke to his classmates who recalled the shooter as a very conservative guy who would take the conservative side whenever any political issue came up. Quote from the classmate:

“He definitely was a conservative. It makes me wonder why he would carry out an assassination attempt on the conservative candidate…. Tom, no matter what, always stood his ground on the conservative side.”

I heard he supposedly donated $15 to Act Blue (a Democratic organization), but apparently it was a donation made by a 69 year old guy with the same name.

Apparently the gunman had an obsession with Epstein and was looking for some kind of vengeance per one of his recent social media posts. Given Trump’s ties to Epstein, which have come into focus recently (more evidence and accusations about Trump), that’s the only explanation that makes sense to me.

Former Republican congressman, Joe Scarbarough, who said on the air this year that Trump would execute generals, execute opponents and execute journalists, was taken off the air this morning because:

“(one of their two dozen lefty knucklehead regular participants) might make an inappropriate comment on live television that could be used to assail the program and network as a whole.”

That makes zero sense. Rely on an unstable 20 year old to make a shot so precise? Are there any circumstances in which any candidate says “yeah, shoot at me and make sure you nick me but don’t kill me.” That’s insane.

On the other hand, the left believes in a series of hoaxes; Hunter’s laptop, Russian hoax, etc. When your support comes from Hollywood’s make-believe…sure, of course you believe in fairy tales.

You guys are funny. Debating the politics of a killer vs wondering how he easily subverted a billion dollar security apparatus.

who cares if he was a disgruntled Republican or Democrat?  How was he able to do what he did? An innocent person is dead and three other innocents are injured.

Amen. That Cheatle and Mayorkas haven’t been fired yet, highlights Biden’s complete incompetence.

        But we already knew that.

do wonder (a) how Crooks got up there with no apparent issue, (b) why the police and Secret Service ignored multiple entreaties from attendees at the event who saw Crooks with a rifle prior to the shooting (c) why there wasn’t Secret Service on that specific rooftop, (d) that the shooter aimed his rifle at a cop who apparently didn’t do anything about it.

I mean…WTF? How does any of that, much less all of that happen? Conspiracy nuts could blame the moderate right (Never Trumpers), the moderate left (crazy Biden supporters), the national security apparatus (insulted by Trump on numerous occasions), the Far Left (Progressives vs. Trump), Russia, China, North Korea and on and on.

Yeah, I heard you the first time. Lone gunman, just like Kennedy and Lincoln…except in the case of Lincoln (and additional target Sec of State William Seward, who was seriously injured along with Seward’s son, and a bodyguard), nine conspirators were accused, seven found guilty, four were hung, Booth himself was shot, three were sentenced to hard labor for life and one was given a six year sentence. One of those hung was supposed to kill VP Andrew Johnson.

So what happened with Crooks? We’ll never know, I suspect.

Incorrect. This was fact-checked by lefty fact-checking organization Snopes. Crooks made the donation the day that Biden was inaugurated, in response to an email he received related to the inauguration.

Trump Shooter Once Donated Money to a Democratic Cause? | Snopes.com

I don’t think we can say he was definitively left or right. Pennsylvania holds “closed” primary elections, in which only voters registered with a party can vote in that party’s primaries. In such states, someone might register with a party not because they agree with its values, but because they want to weigh in on that party’s nominees for each elected post.

Incidentally, Crooks’ father is a registered Libertarian and his mother is a registered Democrat.

Who made the donation is irrelevant for sure. Whether he was right leaning or left makes no matter. The dude shot Trump. Period. Tragic that he hit others as well.

Let the conspiracy theories continue. . . .

Here’s another one. If Biden has Covid, why wasn’t he, or anyone else around him, wearing a mask when he boarded AF1 in Vegas or when he was met and driven to his beach home in Delaware?

Covid, a convenient medical excuse for a lot of things in Biden World. . . .

Read dueling CNN articles, both of which want Biden to step down. One of which said the candidate must be Kamala Harris, the other stated that the Dems need to have an open primary, of sorts, between now and the convention because Kamala Harris is the most not-ready-for-primetime VP…ever.

Apart from that, here’s a quote arguing for consensus candidate versus lockstep to Harris:

Some progressives have said behind the scenes, meanwhile, that they trust Biden to be more aligned with their agenda than they do Harris – and that is part of why so many have stuck with him.

Interesting tacit admission that Biden — who ran as a moderate — has been implementing a Progressive agenda — and that Harris is unlikely to follow suit. If you followed her career as a prosecutor, you’d know that she was fairly conservative.

Also read that Biden is still ticked off about getting passed over in 2016 in favor of flawed HRC, and that he’s particularly disinterested in Obama and Obama-circle recommendations that he step down…in fact, that it’s hardened his resolve.

BTW, Aaron Sorkin has an interesting remedy for the Dems. He recommends (seriously) that they nominate Mitt Romney.
