ParticipantConservative Israeli General explains the most obvious lesson that Trump doesn’t understand: https://youtu.be/1abX8x7qxns?t=1284
Here’s the transcript of the key part:
“This question is not really about even Iran or Israel. It’s a global question because I’m thinking to myself what are the Chinese thinking. I mean if they hear the US saying clearly that if the US is not attacked directly the US shall not intervene. Okay, so I’m thinking if the Chinese really understand that, why not invade Taiwan? This is not attacking the US directly so what will stop China from invading Taiwan? What what will stop Russia for continuing its aggression in Europe if the US is saying if we are not attacked directly? We won’t intervene so this kind of approach might destabilize the whole globe. This is the big danger and I’ve said it even before the war in the previous administration. You want to be a global power you want to stabilize the world you need to show that you are willing to to use military force somewhere.”
Obviously this is in the context of the Iran / Israel conflict. But Trump has been saying this crap for months now — about Taiwan and being wishy washy on Ukraine.
Meanwhile Trump is fawning all over Putin at the G7. I love his comment that if Russia hadn’t been kicked out of the G8 there probably would not be a Russian / Ukraine conflict. Ummm, no. Russia was kicked out of the G8 precisely because it annexed a large chunk of Ukraine, kicking off the conflict. JFC.

MickParticipantI don’t understand your comment or the Israeli general’s comment. What credible source says the USA won’t intervene as a matter of policy?
Hegseth stated two weeks ago that we would defend Taiwan. Personally, I didn’t care for the comment, I’d rather our response be vague. At the same time, he clearly wanted to counter the implication that America would back off or avoid international military commitments. And the fact is, we support Israel vs. Iran tacitly through arms sales and intelligence.
