Rocky17ParticipantHad a discussion with my daughter and son in law last evening at a birthday dinner for my 9 year old grand daughter. Surprised at the extent to which they as corporate employees of large companies live in fear of violating any tenet of political correctness within their companies that their jobs would be put at risk. Told me the world of business had really changed and that I was better suited to my sole proprietorship history than a corporate employee. Apparently it is a new world out there which has been exacerbated by recent events. I still feel more strongly than ever that if we make exceptions to the rule of law based on race, sex or political views, we have lost our nation. I am angered that our freedom of speech is being compromised on the alter of progressive politics. Could the progressives be winning? It appears so with the help of a media hell bent on destroying anything considered conservative in our culture. I am hopeful we have a silent majority of middle of the roaders out there. I also fear the voting process may be altered to the degree it won`t matter in many states as it has in California.
Very upsetting to some of us.

LegendKeymasterRocky, it’s religion to the pc police. They have become every bit as self righteous and judgmental as the staunchest Bible Belt fundamentalist ever was. So if you blaspheme you run the risk of being ostracized. That is all multiplied by the immediate and irrational brand damage that can be done if anyone…even somebody in middle management, runs afoul of the orthodoxy. Google has proven sensitivity to this, as have other companies, even before these current times.
I can tell you this: many corporate leaders live in fear of a misstep that ranks their brand, and many, many people are watching and hoping to tank a brand and get someone fired for sport. The CrossFit example from this week is a good one. The ceo made a bad attempt at humor: responded to a twitter post that the riots were a public health “good” by calling them “Floyd-19”. That was a huge error in today’s age (why any CEO tweets informally is beyond me) but hardly something that is over the top and fireable, yet he probably irreparably harmed a solid brand and lost his job to boot.

ParticipantPL, Political Correctness IS a religion and we are in the middle of a modern day Inquisition. Today acolytes identify heretics and initiate punishment for their heresy. The Church gained a lot of converts. Easy to do when your options are convert or be burned at the stake.
Today, it is not enough to not be a racist. You must declare yourself as anti-racist and join the cult for assimilation. Sort of like The Borg meets The Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

rjnwmillParticipantI beg to differ here. I don’t think much has changed.
Corporate managements have always seen themselves as world class chameleons. All things to all people. They see their self interest in laying down with the left…but attempting to maintain their virginity.
But let’s not lose sight of the obvious fact recently highlighted by Rick Grennell. These same folks, warriors for human rights, are strangely silent when profitable opportunities take them to countries that persecute gays, or religious minorities, or other basic human rights.
Let’s not look to chameleons for moral leadership. They have no core values. And so it has always been. Look no further than corporate entanglements in China, in Saudi Arabia?
