“Musk tweeted late Thursday night, writing, “Something extremely bogus is going on. Was tested for COVID four times today. Two tests came back negative, two came back positive. Same machine, same test, same nurse.”
My question. I assume all test results go into the state/national/global databases. If you have 4 tests, 2 positive, 2 negative, how does that affect the overall stats? Increase rate of infection? Neutral? Down?

It’s only a hunch, but I suspect that every person’s first positive is logged and treated as a case. There are probably no such things as false positives for case reporting.
if we report multiple positives for a single person as multiple cases, then we are just stupid.

Musk says he can’t be sure if he has the virus but he thinks he does. He’d have to take another test to be break the 2/2 tie. However, the Cares Act states that all lab test must be reported. I think if I were tested, I’d request a retest if positive and maybe one if negative. The Act is very specific as to reporting.
Covid data lab procedure seems to point to Musk having 2 reportable cases. Or 2 negatives.
