Genuine RealistParticipantThe maverick African-American intellectual Wilfred Reilly published this article in Commentary a few months ago: https://www.commentary.org/articles/wilfred-reilly/race-in-america-good-news/
It’s cheerfully written, and collates a significant quantum of sociological data you won’t find anywhere else. For a White Supremacist society, persons of color are doing amazingly well. In fact, the only minority loudly complaining are African-Americans (not Africans) – and their problems have far more to do with the sky high rate of intra-racial crime. (There are about 10,000 homicides in the US every year. African-Americans, 1/7th of the population, commit more than half of them. Don’t fret yourself about endangerment, because the vast majority of the victims are other African-Americans. Victims of criminal activity have always been ignored by the Demented Left – and the African-American version of dementia is no different than any other.)
Every reader of the New York Times, Washington Post, or listener to CNN, is aware of the extent to which those publications have been racialized. A great deal has to do with the fact that the African-American constituency is the only reliable one left for the Democratic Party, as it sails away from the traditional openness and color-blind Constitution that is the ideal of most Americans,
Back in the days of Martin Luther King, who was assassinated just three months before my college graduation, reformers could point to a mass of actual racial barriers that were very real and very practical impediments to progress. Not any more – pundits complaining about ‘systemic racism’ are hard pressed to articulate any actual barriers.
A crunch is coming, which may take the form of a town-and-gown dispute in the African-American community.
But, more to the point, if the strident ideologues force the American people to choose between a meritocracy and the notions of Kendi and others as to a race neutral society . . . they are going to choose the meritocracy. Bad news for the believers in moderate affirmative action (me), but they will not be the first ideologues to overplay their hand.
I wouldn't give you two cents for all your fancy rules if, behind them, they didn't have a little bit of plain, ordinary, everyday kindness - yeah, and a little looking out for the other fella, too.

LegendKeymasterGr, here’s the question: who is the audience for this kind of “contrarian” writing?
The people of color who understand the stats don’t need an article on it.
The folks who choose not to believe that the US is a land of opportunity for all and that the stats show it won’t be convinced with facts.
somebody needs to tell all those Haitians that they are entering nazi Germany because they certainly have other choices. But, of course they know that such nonsense is just that…nonsense. And, I believe they know it has nothing to do with government entitlements. It’s truly possible to work hard as do well in the US regardless of color or status. It’s an amazing country in that respect. May we never lose it.
