Harris is giving a speech today focused on the economy. Press leaks indicate that it will essentially claim that the last four years have been awesome, Biden saved America from the COVID disaster, and Harris isn’t changing anything.

Harris’ high point should be the convention. She will do no media interviews or engage in any debates before that time. Her acceptance speech at the DNC will come after Dem party stars Biden, Clinton, Obama, Hillary and Tim Walz speak.

Trump can still win. The Washington Post still thinks he’s far enough ahead in enough of the swing states that it’s not quite a tossup, but Trump is not ahead in the popular vote, but should win 283 electoral votes. NPR, interestingly, feels the same. He has to win both the Rust Belt and the Sun Belt. Harris only needs to win either.

In my view, here’s what Trump needs to do to win:

      1. He needs to focus on the economy and inflation. Harris’ economic speech today will pretend that everything is hunk dory, that they’ve tamed inflation. Trump needs to underscore that most people are worse off than they were four years ago. The Biden Harris economy left most Americans behind.
      2. He needs to be positive on immigrants and legal immigration and focus on the incredible undocumented immigration excesses that Biden and Harris allowed.
      3. He needs to focus on her failure as a border czar. She only started refuting that title recently.
      4. He needs to focus on the fact that Harris’ Progressive history is wrong for this country and she only recently repudiated it; e.g., defund the police, no cash bail, and the fact that Biden was elected as a moderate and governed as a Far Left Progressive…which is what GovTrack points out that Harris is.
      5. He needs to focus on the California disaster/failure that she and Newsom have sponsored.
      6. Separately, San Francisco is a disaster. She needs to be tied to it, even more than CA. BTW, not for Trump, but someone needs to point out that Harris was fundamentally a conservative DA and did a lot of terrible things, at least from the standpoint of the Left.
      7. Wouldn’t be the world’s worst idea if he pointed out that, fundamentally, Harris is stealing his ideas
      8. He needs to amplify the Enraged Left. The Dems don’t confront their insurgents; e.g., the Muslims and others who are anti-Semitic. They coddled the post-George Floyd destructive movement that cost billions in structural damage. The Coalition to March on the DNC has over 150 groups, not just Black Lives Matter and Students for Justice in Palestine.
      9. He needs to avoid stupid side issues; e.g., who has the largest crowds, her relationship with Willie Brown. He needs to stop talking about Biden as if Biden is still running. Biden is history.
      10. The media seems to have forgotten that Trump was the victim of an assassination attempt.
      11. He needs to focus on the EV down side, e.g., jobs lost.
      12. He needs to repudiate Project 2025 more strongly.
      13. Replace JD Vance. JDV needs to voluntarily step down. He’s an anchor around Trump’s neck. Much as Trump doesn’t want to do this, he needs Nikki Haley. He needs more women and more people of color. Single most important move.
      14. He needs to encourage the media to ask her tough questions…like they ask him.
      15. He needs to win Pennsylvania and Georgia. If he wins those two states, he won’t need the other swing states.
      16. He has to ignore Kamala Harris’ success. I realize that he, like most of us, are astounded that someone so inept as a politician could come so far…which she has with the help of the media. He needs to wait for her to self-destruct.

I misspoke. Apparently there will be no debate. Kamala Harris has turned down a potential debate on Fox News.

Trump says proposed debate will now be a town hall with Sean Hannity (msn.com)

But there still will be a debate on ABC a week later. Harris clearly is running from the basement again, though. Disgraceful.
