Karen Bass is in Ghana despite the NWS predicting increased fire danger at least five days ago.

Not sure which is worse…Bass’ lack of presence or Newsom’s presence. There’s a significant lack of water to address the fires, and Newsom — and his predecessors — and the Dem legislature have done little to nothing to alleviate the water shortages in this state.

This has been unbelievable. Bass, Newsom and Biden’s responses have been stunning. “The good news is I had a great grand-daughter”. Can anyone be so out of touch?

That they have no water is stunning. They live alongside a freaking ocean. If they want to save smelt in the Delta, at least back up the fire supply with seawater. It’s not the tough to figure out.

This event should flip CA to red, but it won’t. People are morons.

      Some interesting numbers:

      • $17.6 million. That’s what the LA Mayor Bass cut from the budget, impacting the fire department.
      • 100 billion gallons of fresh water. That’s what flows out to the sea to save the GD smelt.
      • 7 years. That’s how long Adam Carolla had to wait to have his fire department application approved (see his Congressional testimony)
      • 50 years. LA has the same number of firefighters today that they did 50 years ago.
      • 60. The number of LA fire department vehicles currently in disrepair and need of service

Do fire departments no longer have buckets? I understand this was a literal dumpster fire, but that seems like a very inefficient way of putting one out.

California, to put it mildly, is in a pickle. It has three real, identifiable political problems:

      1. The current and future presidents don’t give a rip about California. Biden doesn’t care and never cared about the state, except as a source of donations. Trump really only wants to damage the state, they won’t support him. And California’s leadership is allergic to truth and accountability, so they’ll never deal with Trump in any event.
      2. Democrat leadership doesn’t care about California and takes it for granted, much like they take the working class for granted. California is the most politically reliable Democratic state, it’s rich, it’s a source of donations, it has two of the three major Democratic influence groups (Hollywood and Silicon Valley), but at the same time, it’s sooooo far away from Democratic leaders like Shapiro, Whitmer, Pritzker et al. Pelosi’s lost her luster and power. Harris is a flat-out joke, who lost ground to Trump in most counties. In fact, she can’t really be considered a leader, which leads me to…
      3. In-state California leadership is DEI-choked. Political progressivism owns California. Look at the video where London Breed challenges candidate Lurie “How many drag queens do you know?” She intended that as a serious question! AYFKM? Newsom is good at one thing and one thing only…getting power. He’s been good at it since he was in high school when he targeted and made his two best friends, the grandson of the Getty’s and Dianne Feinstein’s kid. He was Mayor of SF, the Easiest Job in the World for a lefty Dem pol. But he ran this state into the ground. How do you turn a $97.5 bils+ surplus into a $46.8 billion deficit? Ask Newsom, that’s his signature achievement. Karen Bass…wow. Just…wow. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a major politician that ineffective. The DEILAFD? Completely ineffective. The environmentalists have zero sense of reality or accountability. They genuinely don’t care if California burns or runs out of water as long as trees aren’t cut down and the smelt has an environment – because priority for a smelt always trumps priority for humans.

What the absolute F are we doing here? Why are California voters so GD stupid?

New York post is, shall we say, not super impressed with Newsom’s performance during the LA fires:

Newsom blasts Trump for making the fires political, after his photo ops with Biden. Then today post on his website, not on the state’s or the governor office’s, a page to combat disinformation about the fires. Of course it’s propaganda promoting what a great job he’s done as governor.  What a douche bag.

The problems the Dems have is that their promises conflict with what they’re able to deliver…and they promise so much.

California can take a lesson on how not to rebuild from Hawaii. A year and a half after the devastating wildfires on Maui that destroyed nearly 2,000 properties, the Hawaiians have rebuilt a grand total of…three houses.

Like California, Hawaii is a Democrat state, hard blue, with a 23-2 majority in the state Senate and a 44-6 majority in the state House. Governor Green tried to issue an executive order to streamline the redtape for the people rebuilding homes, but got slapped down by the Sierra Club, the ACLU, and native Hawaiian organizations who accused him of “genocide” and “dictatorship.”

“We’re from the government and we’re here to help.” Government efficiency at its finest.

Hawaii’s failed wildfire rebuild should not be a model for California

If there were ever a case for criminal negligence in government, this would be it.

LA Rises will also receive financial support from California Rises, a statewide recovery initiative founded by the governor and First Partner Siebel Newsom after the 2018 Camp Fire.

First one’s behind a paywall, but here’s the gist: three dozen “highest priority” opportunities since 2013 LA County identified — but never repaired — necessary fixes and upgrades to the water system. Total cost, $57 million. Basically, the entire system needed repairs and upgrading; pipes, connections to adjacent water systems in emergencies (could have come in handy, don’t you think?), pumping stations, additional tanks, leaking water lines, etc.

There were 13 upgrades mandated in a 2019 priority list. All but one would have been completed by September, 2024, cost of $59.3 million.

LA has a model to follow if they are smart enough to do so.  I doubt they will.
