With his flurry of posts regarding voter fraud and nuclear scientists, it appears he missed that Stanford has the Axe.

Watched the entire game.  Does it count when you win by a blocked extra point?  LOL.  My take:  Decent O line, decent wide receivers.  One good blocking TE.  Mills is so so.  Good accuracy. No mobility or intuition in the pocket at this stage of his development.  RB’s have great potential.  Shaw is still Shaw.  Our D does not have the great material it had 4-10 years ago.  A shadow of our former selves.  Entirely at Shaw’s feet.  Cal’s O and D lines are thin.  If they had anything like last year, we would have been destroyed.   We are young at most positions in our defense and need maturity and seasoning.  We just have to start recruiting D linemen of some consequence if we ever are to return to a decent D that can stop the run.  Our O also needs one more year.  It could be very good next year but we need another great TE with hands like so many we have had before.

I haven’t seen the Huskies this year, but after watching the Beavs beat Oregon I think Stanford may have seen it’s last win this season.

Stanford got almost every break, (thanks cal) and still came away with a one point victory? Yikes!

This is not a good Stanford team, and it isn’t because of the position by position assessment. The play calling is awful, the in game strategy is awful.

      Go Stanford!

PL nailed it in spades for those of us who played or play bridge.

Complacency may be the most dangerous consequence of the virus.
-the virus is a readily available excuse for attendance that is cratering

-the virus keeps players out of action.  Convenient as a distraction to excuse performance shortcomings

-the virus can “explain” poor recruiting results. The staff couldn’t travel.

The virus feeds the predilection to dissemble. Issues avoidance facilitates inaction by go along to get along leadership. The virus fits Muir’s AD like a glove.

Great post Bob.  Stanford football is like Dems blaming Trump for everything that is wrong in DC.

Complacency started years ago.  May have started as early as Shaw’s second year. Tough to see at first, mostly due to momentum from Harbs.   Complacency started with small nibbles early on, fueled by Shaw’s hubris.   The last 3 years have been telling.

Performance shortcomings.  Well, COVID does offer cover, but what ever happened to next man up?  What COVID has exposed is Shaw does a poor job of developing players.  Period.

Recruiting? I didn’t realize the staff even traveled. I thought recruits had to visit Stanford to show real interest in the program.

Yes, Covid will get the blame for this year and the next three.  A good AD would see this year as a data point not far off the declining performance curve we have witnessed for the last 8 years. I expect Bernard will reward Shaw with a 5 year contract.
