MickParticipant…because the country didn’t elect Kamala Harris. Yeah. That’s the reason. Not the 14 major policy reversals, the lack of policy achievement or the attachment to failed Biden policies. Nope, wasn’t any of those reasons. It was because the country is not ready for a woman president.

On a personal basis, I prefer governors rather than sitting senators as president. I like candidates who have held the executive chair. They tend to be quite effective, like Reagan and Clinton. I would have voted for Christine Todd Whitman, New Jersey’s governor in a heartbeat. I thought she was superb, a classy moderate, and New Jersey grants its governors unusual authority. She was definitely ready.
As for Michelle Obama, if she’d run after Obama’s two terms, she would have won handily, in my opinion.

LegendKeymasterShe’s a political disaster who would only get elected because of her name. She’s from the grievance tribe.

cardcrimsonParticipantI think she’s right. We’re 20 years from our first woman president. Maybe 24. I hope to live that long.
For what it’s worth, my daughter, who just turned 19, is the youngest Speaker of the Alabama Student Government Senate and has connections beyond comprehension; the powers that be at the state level are already wanting her to get into politics. She does have a gift. God help me.

ParticipantThe only reason Trump won was Dems selected the two most unelectable candidates on the planet. A moderate would have won easily, IMHO.
Dems will continue to run against Trump in the foreseeable future. It’s all they have.

My worry is that they will latch onto “Tax the Rich” as their core focal point. It was the only talking point that moved the needle for Harris, and she abandoned it — my guess is in response to the billionaires who funded her campaign.
Momdani and AOC don’t have those concerns, nor does Sanders. If they figure out that robbing Peter to pay Paul is their sole resonant talking point, they will ride the politics of envy until they drop.
