I grew up in Santa Cruz, it describes them perfectly. Santa Cruz natives hated people who lived outside of Santa Cruz County, particularly those who lived in the Santa Clara Valley, and had their own special slur “Valleys” which they applied to anyone living north of the Summit. For whatever reason, they despised the tourists that essentially paid their freight year in and year out.
