cardcrimsonParticipantHow much is real, how much manipulated? Lots of anecdotal stories out there of labeling non Covid cases as Covid related. Anyone found a definitive study?
Here’s one from months ago in Sacto:
“Of that second-round money, HHS reported 63 California hospitals received $50,000 for each eligible coronavirus patient they admitted between Jan. 1 and June 10, 2020. That’s a combined total of more than $607 million.”
$50 grand for each Covid case admitted seems to be a pretty big incentive. . . .
And in NC:
“According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, that means hospitals get an extra 20 percent for patients who test positive for COVID-19.”

ParticipantNot verified, but heard local Kaiser facilities tagged anyone with a temperature as Covid positive.

ParticipantPart of the incentive as I understand it is to ensure that skilled employees show up for work. That’s a large chain from the people who sanitize and clean to skilled nursing, physician assistants, diagnostic and lab techs to the billing dept. Some patients never even see an MD. MDs can be off site and consult.
It all seems a little extreme to me but the health care system and our politicians did not anticipate this and prepare for it. Even the highly regarded Dr Fauci.
If there is a vaccine, you will still be wearing a mask until cleared through serological testing at least into 2022.

Rocky17ParticipantThe rising covid rate probably has more to with testing expansion. I would guess many of those positives are people with few if any symptoms and that millions have had it since February with few or no symptoms before testing became widespread.
