Homelessness has become so severe in California that the state now has more than 1/4th of America’s homeless (28%) and more than half of America’s unsheltered people (51%).

The problem is exacerbated in the large cities. It’s reached the level that even Democrats realize that their policies have exacerbated a challenging problem.

Q: How do you spell
D-U-M-B F-U-C-K-S?
A: Gavin Newsom, Democratic Legislators in Sacramento and local political types running California cities.
And Newsom and the rest of our D F brigade suggests now is a great time to add a plethora of illegals for good measure, shall we? (The asshole is out touting the policy successes of the Biden/Mayorkas crew.)

How times have changed…for some of us.
I was at the doctor yesterday. I was offered a flu shot or a Covid booster. They wanted two weeks between the jabs in case there was a reaction. They wanted to be able to identify the cause. This is the first time I’ve been asked to wait between jabs. I took the flu shot.
Two years ago, I believe I would have pressed for the Covid vaccine first.

The only policy I am aware of is to keep throwing more money at the problem and expect wonderful things to happen. Of course, pointing out how much money is spent on the homeless will draw the wrath of do gooders who believe the problem is caused by Republicans. 🙁
Portland and Multnomah County have a Joint Office for Homelessness. It has come underfire by an independent watch dog group for sloppy accounting, failure to pay suppliers on time, lack of policies and procedures and four directors in the last 2 years.
Here is an article that details the problems. https://www.opb.org/article/2023/08/23/joint-office-homeless-portland-audit/ Similar story in Seattle.
Locally, the budget for fighting homelessness is $265M/year. Portland’s homeless population is estimated at 5000. It would be cheaper to just buy a house for each of them.
