MickParticipantThe legendarily successful mayor of Chicago believes Republicans will flock to the Democratic party this year. Specifically, he thinks “Biden Republicans” will become Democrats, as Reagan Democrats left the Democratic party.

Rahm also graciously recommends that Democrats not hold a grudge against voters who voted for Trump in 2016:
I understand the impulse to marginalize voters who weren’t with us in 2016—to castigate them for ignoring all the warning signs about Mr. Trump. I’m hardly known for being a “forgive and forget” kind of guy. But vengeance would be shortsighted and self-defeating. Cultivating their support won’t muddle our resolve so much as it will empower us to enact our agenda. While we may not always agree on every item, they’ll be invaluable allies and coalition partners when we’re working to protect the environment, expand economic opportunity to all parts of society, and reform the justice system.

Genuine RealistParticipantWe’ve been here before in this country.
I think Trump has basically destroyed the Republican Party. When Democrats are embracing the likes of John Bolton, there’s nothing left but a personality cult.
That does not, however, mean that the Democrats’ values reign triumphant. What it means is that all the old debates begin to resurrect in the ranks of the Democratic Party. (That’s what happened to Jefferson’s Republicans between 1808 and 1828.) Or a third party springs into life, as in 1856.
Trump’s incredible narcissism and belligerence make any kind of political dialog impossible. There are a ton of people who see the Democratic progressives as having gone way, way too far. and I include African-Americans and Hispanic social conservatives. (A moment to wish – again – that Rubio had secured the GOP nomination in 2016. All those columnists who think the delivery of the Hispanic constituency into the Democrats – with its entrenched anti-Catholicism – is a done deal, would have found out how wrong they are.)
Ultimately, the American people get the government they want, and I do NOT think the government they want has too much in common with Progressive wet dreams. But in this election, to vote AGAINST them means you have to vote FOR Trump, and darn few people want to do that. Once the bloated ego is out of the way, maybe voters can begin to size up what they really want, without the personalty obstruction.
I wouldn't give you two cents for all your fancy rules if, behind them, they didn't have a little bit of plain, ordinary, everyday kindness - yeah, and a little looking out for the other fella, too.

rjnwmillParticipantWho votes to degrade their neighborhoods? And the democrats refuse the opportunity for a “Sista Soldja” moment. No one says an unkind word about ANTIFA or BLM. Not as they ruin urban living or call for/excuse property theft in the name of reparations.
A cowering retreat from clarity in the face of criminality is not a unifying political narrative.

LegendKeymasterI think more people will vote for Trump despite not liking him than you realize GR. It may not be enough to re-elect him, but a lot of people think his policy agenda has been on balance OK, and not nearly the disaster that Dem governance brings.
Would I want trump to be my CEO? Not at all.
If had to choose between Trump and Kamala? Trump all day long.
Trump is nasty, defensive, and bombastic, but I believe he is pushing an agenda that is better for the country and the world than what Biden would bring. I can write that without needing to reference any conspiracy theories or tweets. The policy agenda is simply better.
I say this having said that I would vote for Biden if he had run in 16. Now? Not likely.

I couldn’t have said it better Legend.
people always ask me the same question. Would I hire Trump as CEO of one of my companies. My initial answer is no. He seems like an a hole to his employees, but then I alter my answer by a) saying I would hire him for a turn around situation ( and believe me after eight years of Obama ‘ s politicies this country was a turn around) and b) if my other choice was Hilary or Jomala.-
