I must say, this is a long time coming. Almost three out of four American adults are dissatisfied with American democracy. When I was a senior in college, it was only two in five. It had dipped to 36% after the recession in 1992, when Ross Perot was getting traction…but our economy isn’t in recession.

When all we do is sow distrust in our fellow citizens, this is the obvious outcome.

We have stopped teaching our citizens what democracy is.  Heck, our founders were dissatisfied with democracy.  We have tolerated largely ignorant slanted depictions of our history.  It is one thing to acknowledge and study the horrors of our past, but we spend considerable effort issuing negative propaganda about our nation,

      Random thoughts.

      1.  I’ll take even money 3 out of 4 Americans don’t know we are not a democracy.
      2. I believe current dissatisfaction is the result of unrealistic expectations by voters.  All to often I hear “Government should fix this”, or “the government should solve this problem.”  Government doesn’t fix problems, and the only thing it excels at is taxing and deficit spending.
      3. Another even money wager. 90% of incumbents running for re-election will win.

We aren’t satisfied with what we have, but somehow can’t bring ourselves to vote incumbents out of office.
