ParticipantFive weeks in and democrats are concerned about Biden having sole authority over the nuclear launch codes? What have these folks foisted on the country?

Participant“They also posited “requiring certifications from the secretary of defense that the launch order is valid and from the attorney general that it is legal,” and it would require a congressional declaration of war or another specific authorization effort from Congress.”
Oh goodie. “This missiles are in bound sir, what do we do?” “Nothing. We are waiting on the speaker to get her hair done”.
Dems don’t get the Constitution. President is CiC, period. There is a chain of command involved. We could call this “The Barney Fife” rule. Sure, you are Commander in Chief, but Congress is going to tell when you can exercise your authority. WTF….

ParticipantBD, I honestly can’t imagine a more wrong headed decision. Introducing the risk of administrative delay into a discussion of strategic response in a world where hypersonic delivery systems will be coming on line.
They offer us senility and now unilateral disarmament as an appropriate response to a mentally impaired CiC? The blatant incompetence on display is breathtaking. At least with the “summer of love” in Seattle, the damage was narrowly distributed.

ParticipantIt seems highly likely to me that we’ll “survive” Biden although it appears clear that his peers are taking steps to try to deal with reduced mental capacity in a CiC.
Our history is about change management. Some done effectively, some not. A key challenge going forward is the increasing institutional infection of partisan politics.
As our founders concluded, separation of church and state is fundamental to the free exchange of ideas. Personal beliefs should not be state supported. The leakage of political dogma into government funded institutions is similarly anathema to the marketplace of ideas and the effective functioning of the institutions themselves. Schools, law enforcement and the conduct of elections are simply timely examples.
“Survival”, long term, is less certain as politicians F/U everything they touch.
