Posting here as I find this couple typical of their age group in this area.  They evidently did not visit Houston, doing little if any research into the area.  This line is awesome.  “There aren’t any mountains like that in Texas.”

OMG.  They moved to Texas, and Texas isn’t like Oregon.  If you like Portland, there is a real good chance you are not going to like Houston.  Really surprised they sprang for rodeo tickets.  Maybe they didn’t know rodeos used real animals…..

My brother attended Oregon State and Lewis & Clark for law school. He had a cool, funky house in a cool, funky neighborhood in Portland. He really liked it. He married a woman he met at Lewis & Clark, but she wanted to return to her ancestral homeland in Carlsbad. So, he left. Nothing like Portland. Not terrible…but nothing like Portland.

If you like the topography and weather where you live, to the point of excluding all others, then by all means, either stay where you are or move to an identical place.
