…2,100 people have been arrested during pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses. There have been 50 arrests at 40 different U. S. colleges in the last two weeks.
I don’t pretend to have a solution for the Middle East and its problems. I am leery, however, of religious groups who claim that their deity of choice allows them to massacre, kill, rape, steal, commit genocide, force into slavery (e.g., 1.5 million Europeans and Americans were enslaved in Islamic North Africa between 1530 and 1780. Cervantes was briefly a Muslim slave), etc. members of other faiths.
In 1785, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams met with Tripoli’s ambassador to London. They inquired as to why the Barbary states preyed upon American shipping when America had nothing to do either with the Crusades or the Catholic reconquista of Andalusia (that was Charles Martel, the Hammer of the Franks, at Tours). Tripoli’s ambassador Abd Al-Rahman replied that it was written in the Koran that it was the duty of all Muslims to make war upon all Nations who do not acknowledge Allah’s authority, and to find the infidels and take them prisoner and make slaves of them.
That was the moment, philosophically speaking, that the United States Marine Corps was born.

The students and agitators and other anti-Israelis look to a future of conquest and damage. They are no friends of the Great Satan. And when the anti-Israelis co-opt willing dunces from the American Left, they are opening the door to long-term damage. And that’s with the American Muslim population at 1.1% of the overall population. What happens when it reaches 2%? 5%? 10%?

If you haven’t heard of Janissaries, it makes for interesting reading. Janissaries were the elite infantry units that formed the Ottoman Empire’s troops. They were the first modern standing army and possibly the first infantry force to be equipped with firearms (reign of Murad II). The corps was established in 1363 and dismantled in 1826.
It was formed out of child levy enslavement, chiefly Christian Albanians, Bulgarians, Croats, Greeks, Romanians, Serbs and Ukrainians and (by the 16th century), Turks. They were subject to forced circumcision, conversion to Islam and conscripted into the Janissary corps. They were the elite fighting force of the Ottoman empire.
The European militaries, over time, caught up to and surpassed the Janissaries in terms of sophistication and military hardware, leading to the Janissary revolt of 1826. At the time, there were 135,000 Janissaries and they threatened to undermine the empire. They mutinied when Mahmud II formed a new army. Thousands were killed or exiled.

Next time I hear a Muslim chanting “Death to America” while in America, I’m going to remember this fellow…a “protestor” wearing the headband of the Hamas military. In essence, a terrorist committed to Jewish genocide (for now. Other groups, on the way.
Here’s the video link: Stanford Jewish students on taking photo of man with Hamas headband on campus
Here’s his photo. The background may look familiar to you. It’s the Stanford University campus:
