cardcrimsonParticipantMembers of the 2020 Texas are asking that the “Eyes of Texas” be banned from the University due to it’s racist history. Its racist history you ask? Apparently it was written in the early 20th century to parody the then university president and first performed at a benefit for the track team. The benefit though, was a “minstrel” type show where performers wore blackface.

ParticipantBan all mascots. No more cheerleaders. No team songs that have words like fight, fighting, marching on to victory etc. Bye bye to the Fighting Irish. No scoreboards. Everyone must take Xanax before the game starts. Maybe we just ban sporting events all together. Don’t want to offend someone by cheering or celebrating a score.

This all sounds funny until you realize there are people who believe it 100 percent.

FratBoySpikeParticipantIt all started when the “Indians” became the color “Cardinal”. I remember the administration had the student body vote for a new mascot in the early ’80s and everyone I knew voted for “The Robber Barons” or “The Griffons”, but mysteriously, we became a color.

cardcrimsonParticipantI was there, too. I voted for the Robber Barrons, though I actually liked the Bollards a lot.
Kennedy got a lot of praise when he passed recently. Decreeing us the Cardinal was problematic for me. . . . .
