The Atlantic’s headline screams “The Lie at the Heart of Melania’s Speech”
The New Yorker echos “The Special Hypocrisy of Melania Trump’s Speech”
and of course there was Bette Middler’s tweets mocking her accent, belittling her ability to speak five languages, and ridiculing her immigrating to America.
Seriously, has a First Lady ever been treated like this but the MSM and the Hollywood elite ? Has an immigrant ever been treated like this by the same?

I think Tim Scott said it best when he said to watch what they do, not what they say.
Attacking Melania probably pays off with the Democrat base who don’t understand the irony of decrying xenophobia while at the same time denigrating a successful immigrant who just happens to be married to a guy whose politics you disagree with. Other than that, it makes them look small.

And I’m told that none of the most highly-regarded clothing designers will work with her. That undermines my faith in efficient markets a little bit.
Also, Google indicates she speaks six languages, but I presume that Midler’s point is that Melania doesn’t speak any of the six as well as Midler speaks English. As Bugs Bunny once said, “What a maroon!!!”.

The Atlantic didn’t write the article. A professional opinion writer named David Frum wrote it. Former speech writer for Bush and McCain. Harvard/Yale pedigree. Wrote some of the underpinnings for the Iraq war. A swamp creature extrordinaire. Who cares what he thinks?
The New Yorker writer has a name too. 28 year old Doreen St Felix. Another opinionista who also writes for the New York Magazine and Lena Dunham’s blog. Ivy pedigree. Brown. A swamp creature wannabe who also writes about GOOP. She probably gets $5 a word.

While I understand your point as to the authors, it’s the publishers who are investing their brands when they elect to publish such drivel.
At the end of the day it is our politics. No real difference with the Steele dossier in 2016 or weaponizing the FBI & our surveillance infrastructure. And Kamala has already directly revealed here political sensibilities. After Harris admitted to having “lied her ass off” about Biden’s shortcomings because it was a “debate”, I doubt this will stop. Orange is a big boy, he’ll push back gently, no?

My point is that readers of brand magazines such as the Atlantic imagine that the authors know what they are talking about. Put the articles on an anonymous blog and no one would care. But with 500,000 subscribers and the name Atlantic, you get a long reach regardless of what you write. We’re a long way from Longfellow’s musings.
Right now the Atlantic’s Editor in Chief is Jeffrey Goldberg, with an Ivy pedigree from Penn. Goldberg clearly approved the Atlantic hit piece by Yoni Applebaum (Columbia Univ) in 2019 calling for the Impeachment of President Trump. The Atlantic is now owned by philanthropist Lorraine Powell Jobs (Stanford) who purchased it through her personal social change advocasy foundation, The Emerson Collective. The Emerson Collective now owns Amplify, Associated with News Corp as a curriculum assessment company.

If Melania was a Democrat, the adulation would never stop. Look at the way the sycophants licked Michelle Obama’s boots for eight years. The hypocrisy is Mind boggling. Legal immigrant, classy, elegant, pretty, but she married the wrong guy so she is fair game.
as to the designers; if a right wing designer refused to work for MO, they would be cancelled overnight. Whom am I boycotting by the way. 🙂
