Mick1ParticipantTo the list of massive American forces who both back the Democratic party and depend upon make-believe for at least part of their business including Wall Street, Silicon Valley, Hollywood, the legal profession, academia, and Big Government, you can add Michael Moore and the world’s oldest profession.

ParticipantFirst, it is bewildering why Republicans can’t mount a cohesive strategic attack on Biden/Harris and stop with the name calling. Make libs actually discuss policy while reminding voters that all the bad things they predicted in 2016 failed to materialize, and 2024 is no different.
The left’s fixation on Project 2025 is telling. If MSM were tracking lies and misstatements like they do with Trump, Project 2025 would barely draw a peep. No mention that it is the work of a think tank in existence for 40 years. Puzzling is the Right’s silence with regards to liberal policy think tanks like the Center for American Progress. In my opinion, that alone would move the needle for a few moderates and independents.

Mick1ParticipantUnfortunately, no one seems to care about the national deficit/national debt any more. It’s past WWII levels, expressed as a percentage of GDP. We’ll get through the next four years, then it will be the next prez’s problem.
I had an Econ prof who routinely dismissed the national debt, frequently saying that “as long as we owe it to ourselves (Americans), then it’s not really an issue.” Foreign countries own $7.9 trillion, about 22.9% of the national debt.
Now it’s a problem. Here’s the rough distribution, as of 8/1/24:
Japan ($1.1 trils.), China ($750 bils., down from $1.25 bils. in 4/14), UK has nearly $700 bils., up from $180 bils. in 4/14), Luxembourg about $375 bils., Canada about $325 bils.
On the good news side, the percentage of foreign ownership of our debt has been decreasing. It was $8.52 trillion in 2021 (adjusted for inflation).
Here’s a handy link where you can check the amount by country:
