…last August was a 17 year old high school senior. He was attempting to steal Pearsall’s jewelry, his Rolex and money. Pearsall fought him. The thug shot Pearsall and managed to shoot himself as well and was arrested a block away.
The district attorney sought to transfer the case to adult court, noting that Pearsall could have died.
The public defender said the teen had experienced trauma and abuse at home and in foster care. Said he had been a model prisoner in juvenile detention, formed a book club, graduated from high school, enrolled in community college.
Judge’s decision: juvenile court for the thug.
Teen charged in shooting of San Francisco 49ers’ Pearsall will not be tried as an adult
