ParticipantMay CPI 8.6%. Came in hotter than feared. 10 year over 3%.
We can all argue that our government is beyond repair but right now it’s the truckers who are holding this country together getting much needed supplies to market while they pay $1,100/day for fuel. An independent with 3 trucks will pay about $17,000 a week for fuel. When they decide that it’s not worth it anymore a lot of folks will be 9 meals from hell.
And while we watch in amazement as the government takes quick action to forgive student loans they dawdle and distract with Jan 6 prime time TV.

LegendKeymasterWe are in a tough spot. We have institutional leaders that don’t have the balls to do the right thing (at least match nominal interest rates to inflation), and therefore we have people who are going to suffer.
we have negative real interest rates on the order of 6-7 percent, and that’s if you believe the actual cpi, which is doctored whether you like it or not.
Instead, let’s blame Putin. We have gone from operation warp speed-type thinking to operation find someone to blame. Feckless is the word that comes to mind.

The timing couldn’t be worse could it? It plays right into the Republican narrative about political distraction as a means to paper over managerial/policy incompetence.
And to make matters worse for the democrats, this two page letter to Thompson and an all star cc list. A records retention request. I should think this will cramp the committee’s style. But it also shows the Republican focus for their soon to be majority will be both political and rearward facing. Just what we need. 🤦🏼♂️
