Tortilla-gate

This weeks example of wokism gone awry. Last summer, Coronado High School was playing for their sectional championship, and when they won, the players and cheerleaders celebrated by throwing tortillas onto the court. One of the fans, a Latino alum of UC Santa Barbara wanted to emulate a Gaucho tradition, and brought the tortillas to the game, and gave them to the students to throw if, and only if they won.

 

Shouldn’t have been a big deal, except that many of the players from the losing team are Latino, and some may have been offended.

 

So, the head coach is fired and the team is stripped of the championship they earned on the court and placed on probation.

 

At least the CIF removed the probation from the entire school. Sheesh.

What was the grievous offense?   Kids being kids?

They are tougher in CA on high school hijinks than  “undocumented shoppers” and rioters.  Seems more punitive than Darrell Brooks $1000 bail in Wisconsin too.  He didn’t even have to do any corrective training for his insensitive nature either.

Reading the account, it seems the offense was throwing anything rather than some ethnic insult.

I wouldn't give you two cents for all your fancy rules if, behind them, they didn't have a little bit of plain, ordinary, everyday kindness - yeah, and a little looking out for the other fella, too.

I love the story.  Says so much about what an orderly society now should be.  One school by default is without sin.  The other is badly in need of redemption.  They are all just kids.  Leave them alone.  No harm done.

But you could take a crap on Rodeo Drive at high noon and it passes the smell test with the woke mob.

Clearly the powers that be thought the intent was racist and demeaning. Sadly, not even close.

Exhibit #32,478 in favor of one-way racism.  If you’re not caucasian you are kind and good and virtuous and by definition, you can do no wrong.

If you’re caucasian, well, the formula is simple

white = white supremacist, fundamentally racist at your core.
