Mick1ParticipantWell, the Dems are going to keep shooting at Trump until they get him. The latest wingnut, a registered Democrat named Ryan Wesley Routh, who had donated to Democrats 19 times, tried to shoot Trump with an AK-47 from about 400 yards. Happily, this time, the Secret Service noticed.
Routh was convicted two decades ago of possessing WMD’s.

ParticipantAh yes, “the Dems” are shooting at Trump. I guess “The Republicans” are responsible for every crime and idiotic thing a single one of them does?
And apparently you missed the fact that the guy who actually shot at Trump a couple months ago was not a Democrat. By all indications, except on tiny donation he made during high school, he was a conservative. But that doesn’t fit the narrative, so…
And the second guy from yesterday voted for Trump in 2016. He recently switched parties, apparently, so I guess all Democrats are now responsible for his behavior? By the way, he didn’t actually shoot at Trump. He was five football fields away. Maybe he wanted to. We’ll see. But “the Dems” are not shooting at Trump. “The Dems” did not shoot at Trump.
But it makes for good propaganda and changes the narrative after Trump made a fool of himself in the debate (shocker; who would have ever expected /s).

LegendKeymasterSo the shooters are Trump supporters? That takes the cake.

ParticipantLegend: Obviously neither of these guys are Trump supporters. That doesn’t mean they are liberals — which was clearly my point, since Mick said “Dems” are shooting at Trump. I don’t know how you missed my main point, which I made multiple times, that “the Dems” are not shooting at Trump.
Apparently the guy from yesterday recently registered as a Democrat somewhere, but was Nikki Haley supporter and voted for Trump previously. Whatever his beliefs — he is not some kind of life long woke liberal. And he does not represent “the Dems”. And the guy from a couple months ago was, by almost every measure, a conservative guy. As you may recall, his school-mates said he would take a conservative position every time political issues came up. He was a big 2nd amendment guy. And there was other evidence that I don’t recall pointing to his conservative bona fides (if I recall correctly, he was a registered Republican).
Again, my point is, both of these guys have a history of being relatively conservative and “the Dems” are not shooting at Trump.

LegendKeymasterSo would it be fair to say that Trump’s opposition has demonstrated violent tendencies?
I mean, since we are splitting hairs about whether someone is a “Democrat” or not, let’s just call them the opposition. Do you think Kamala’s opposition is equally violent? It’s ok if you do, but what’s the evidence? Trump has been shot by one wild be assassin, and then had another lay in wait for him.
Hypothetically speaking, who do you think is physically safer right now: Kamala walking through Boise without security or Trump walking through Berkeley without security?

Routh didn’t vote for Trump. He didn’t vote at all in the 2016 election. He’s registered as a Democrat, and like the previous shooter had made a donation to a Dem cause. Routh, specifically, made 19 separate donations to Democrats in the 2020 voting season (he lived in Hawaii and supported fellow Hawaiian and Democrat Tulsi Gabbard). He voted in the 2024 Democratic primary…doesn’t really scream that he supports Haley.
