Participant-
Last month, a study from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) that analyzed the economic impact of tourism in 184 countries revealed the U.S. was the only country forecast to see international visitor spending decline in 2025.

From the anticipated $16.3 billion increase in revenue to a loss of between $8.3 billion (Tourism Economics estimate) and $12.5 billion (WTTC estimate), the U.S. is facing a shortfall of $25 billion to $29 billion this year.
This is just one consequence of turning our country into a pariah, as I noted about 5 months ago: http://currenteventsboard.com/forums/topic/trump-turning-the-usa-into-a-pariah-state/
People don’t want to come here. There are a number or reasons. I’ve made threads about some of them. But unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last six months, it should be fairly obvious why.
I can’t wait to see what a shit-show the Olympics will be. Probably the most empty stadiums in Olympic history. Who the fuck will want to come to the USA when they have to worry about being rounded up by ICE or denied a visa to come here because of anti-Israel content or pro-Palestinian beliefs noted in their social media accounts. If their smart, they’ll just stay home and watch on TV.
On a related note, the Venezuelan little league champion team was denied visas into US, where the playoffs were being held. They were supposed to be in the World Championship. But I guess cruelty is the point with this regime. That’ll teach those kids not to live in a shithole country.

ParticipantSpeaking of the Olympics, I almost forgot to mention, “Trump names himself chair of L.A. Olympics task force, sees role for military during Games“.
The IOC is notoriously one of the most corrupt organizations. So of course Trump made himself the chair of the US delegation. He can’t let such an obvious and easy grifting opportunity pass him by.
Might as well throw in a bit of fascism along with it and send in the military while he’s at it.

We go skiing every year. The prices for skiing are outrageous. It’s almost all driven by foreign tourism. The top ski resorts are populated by non Americans and their Nannies. I won’t mind if that goes away a bit.
I attended a very international conference a few weeks ago. The non U.S. travelers were talking about how “scared” they were to come to the U.S. because of higher traveler scrutiny. One said his daughter had to have extra screening because her passport picture was old.
sounds to me like the U.S. is closer to what other countries do. Didn’t bother me in the least. If people are “scared” then they are just listening to the wrong folks.
“we’ve been able to just walk into the country for years, now we have to actually be vetted” isn’t the complaint you think it is.
