Violent crimes for the state of Florida fell by nearly 32% in 2022 compared to 2019, and by 23% when compared to 2021 data. California saw violent crimes spike by 13% last year compared to 2019, and by 3.8% when compared to 2021 data.

Incidentally, there was a substantial increase in Black Americans murdered, spiking by 32% in 2020 compared with 2019. Was it because of a defund the police movement?

And, to the last point:  I think it’s pretty well understood that whenever police pull back from policing, young black men pay a price.
