As I watch Newsom and his proxies attack Elder’s “blackness”, label him as the black face of white supremacy, I am reminded of Pete Wilson and Prop 187. In the 1994 election contest, a political party openly alienated an increasingly important demographic segment and shifted the electoral balance in California for over a generation.
Are the Elder attacks that far over the top? Can democrats fairly position themselves as representatives of the African American community?
65% of non hispanic whites are likely to vote. Only 54% of African Americans are similarly inclined. 73% of African Americans are democratic voters. African Americans are 7% of registered voters while Hispanics are 28% and Asians are 14%.
How will the community react to another of their members shuffled to the back of the bus by the Democratic Party?
Here's a toast with one last pour, may it last forever and a minute more;
