The Catholic church has taken in $1.93 billion from DHHS for shelter grants. DHS forked over $156 mms., HUD gave them $138 million. FEMA also gave.
As an example, in FY’21 the Ft. Worth diocese received $11.7 million in grants. By FY’23, that had grown to $401.7 million, mostly reserved for “Refugee and Entrant Assistance.”

$400 million to one diocese! That’s just stunning.
wasn’t there some controversy about using churches or funding churches back during gwb? I think I may have evolved on the matter.
