ParticipantI can guarantee that if someone tried to do this down in my neck of the woods, you would see tar, feathers, a rail and worse just like that scene in “Oh, Brother! Where Art Thou?
Disgusting individual. Beautiful state. WTF ever happened to Oregon?

ParticipantSame thing happened to Oregon that has happened to most of the blue states. A small handful of counties control the state.
Kate is a piece of work, who never would have been governor were it not for John Kitzhaber resigning while under federal investigation.
For the most part, her order will be ignored by citizens and law enforcement alike.

ParticipantSo what does she get out of issuing these inane orders. And why don’t her constituents punish her. This woman is an imbecile.

ParticipantThese people have always been lurking in the weeds going back to Rome. I know some of them and what’s interesting is the certainty with which they hold their positions. Their idealism always increases with their distance from the problems. Edward Teller said in his memoirs that he believed in evil and it was the property of all people who were certain of the truth. Sounds like Kate Brown to me.
It would be interesting to see what these leftist governors would do if genuine antifascist protesters were to descend upon Silicon Valley and some prestigious universities to peacefully shake the box for a year or so. You know, like Portland. What would these governors do?

ParticipantYou have your answer by example. When the wrath of Antifa was focused on Portland Mayor Wheeler, he did what they always do. Retreated, slinked out of Dodge and hid.

ParticipantNeodymium60 is spot on IMO. “Their idealism always increases with their distance from the problems.” Newsome not maintaining social distancing is another example is a good example of why the unwashed are saying “eff you” to stay at home orders. The “do as I say and not what I do stuff “is getting old.
True, Brown clings to the righteousness of position like a religious zealot claiming his religion is the only true path. I don’t view her intent as evil, she has an unshakeable confidence she is right.
She is ranked as one of the least popular governors in the US (https://www.oregonlive.com/politics/2019/07/kate-brown-is-one-of-the-most-unpopular-governors-in-country-thanks-to-republicans-morning-consult-survey.html) and her response to COVID is limited to following Jay Inslee in WA and Pretty boy Newsome.
This is typical of how insiders see her.
“Today she had a presser about supposedly reopening the economy and it was a remarkably content-free zone. There is no plan. She gave no hints about what that might actually look like. It was just kind of, ‘well, we’re planning to have a plan.’”
Oregon votes for governors in off election years. Oregon may very well not elect a republican governor, but I can’t see Brown winning in two years.
