ParticipantWhile the mayor is engaging in “meaningful discussions” with terrorists occupying Capitol Hill, residents have filed a lawsuit against the city.
Lawsuit was filed in Federal District Court, not state court. (Good call, at least the plaintiffs will have a chance of being heard.)

I hope residents and businesses in other cities follow suit.

ParticipantLiberal judges. Despite dilution by Trump, the 9th just delivered another decision against the Trump administration two days ago. Washington is a lost cause. Too many millennials working in too many high tech left wing companies. Those city council people and their mayor were elected by the same people who dominate Seattle. It once was a great city. It will now be forever unsafe. Business people will eventually move away.

ParticipantPerhaps they should move CHAZ to Inslee’s or Durkan’s neighborhood. (Probably gated). Or Schumer’s. Or Pelosis. Or pick your favorite progressive Hollywood Star, rich athlete, or Captain of Industry.
Methinks we would hear a different tune. Nimbyism being the key. It’s cool as long as it’s just some in poor neighborhood that can be easily avoided.

ParticipantSuit will be interesting to follow. Federal grounds are Violations of Procedural and Substantive Due Process and the Takings Clause.
It may not survive as a Class Action – the harm to the potential class members I suspect varies significantly. But even it it proceeds only for the named plaintiffs it could set a significant precedent.
I see one big hurdle as the temporary nature of the “taking”. Also immunities could come into play.

Participantbring the CHOP to St. Helena, it has 5 cops and lots of wine. Pelosi has a very nice gate guarded by Secret Service.

St Helena has an Adventist mental health hospital too.
