Mick1ParticipantGaetz finally got McCarthy ousted. And he denies it was because of a vendetta against McCarthy because McCarthy didn’t stop a House investigation into Gaetz:
McCarthy-aligned PACs spent millions supporting Republicans who turned against him. So much for party loyalty:

McCarthy won’t run again. The House Repubs are having a candidate meeting on Tuesday. Potential candidates include Speaker Pro Tempore Patrick McHenry (the oldest looking 47 year old I’ve ever seen), Steve Scalise (LA), Jim Jordan (OH) who is a McCarthy Supporter.

Incidentally, Patrick McHenry’s first move was to oust Nancy Pelosi from a hideaway office. Steny Hoyer had the same treatment:

ParticipantHow many times in the last 10 years have heard the phrase “For the first time in the history of the Republic……”
McCarthy should have never agreed to the motion to vacate rule. You could see the handwriting on the wall.
Dems demonstrated how they are willing to reach across the aisle to get things done. Right to the point of double screwing the ones who compromise when offered the opportunity.
I can’t imagine a more toxic work environment than Congress.

rjnwmillParticipantI saw an interview with Nancy Mace of South Carolina, one of the eight.
She stated she’s received threats…not physical, no instead that her fundraising would dry up.
During a five minute interview she gave her fundraising web site address four + times. The eight have the sword of Damocles overhead?
Here's a toast with one last pour, may it last forever and a minute more;

Mick1ParticipantBTW, Democrats didn’t rescue McCarthy, because they have a long memory. McCarthy was a Trump supporter, he opposed the creation of a bipartisan commission to investigate the Jan. 6 incident, and gave a huge cache of security footage to Tucker Carlson. The Dems believe that McCarthy essentially attempted to rehabilitate Trump more than anyone else. And that, they won’t forgive.
And maybe…they like to see self-inflicted chaos by the Republicans.

Mick1Participant…and Gaetz gets what he wants. McCarthy is out.

McCarthy won’t run again. It took him 15 rounds to get elected in the first place. Repubs will hold a speaker candidate forum on Tuesday. Rep. McHenry (NC and chair of Financial Services Committee) is speaker pro tempore and is privately telling people he’s the leading candidate. BTW, McHenry is the oldest looking 47 year old I’ve ever seen. And he ordered Nancy Pelosi to vacate the speaker hideaway office, ho ho ho:
Kevin McCarthy, after ouster, says he won’t run again for speaker
Other candidates include Tom Emmer, House Majority Whip, though he supports Steve Scalise (LA). Kevin Hern (OK) is a hardliner who wants to run. Jim Jordan (OH), who was a McCarthy ally.
