…says this article. Same is true if he wins, just four years later. Once they get rid of Trump, the GOP will have lost its moorings.

I could not disagree more. Trump the Bogeyman is the only thing holding the DEMOCRATIC Party together, since Obama and Hilary abandoned the working class and turned it over to academic liberalism a decade ago. Without Trump, they’d go down on transgender issues alone – and t that’s just for openers.

I’m not going to be casting a Presidential vote in this election.

I wouldn't give you two cents for all your fancy rules if, behind them, they didn't have a little bit of plain, ordinary, everyday kindness - yeah, and a little looking out for the other fella, too.

Interesting perspective, GR. I definitely thought that way about MSNBC, CNN and the variety of left-leaning media…I didn’t think to include the Democratic party itself.

Actually, I think the effect is worse if Trump wins. If he wins, then MAGA will have four years to be implanted. It’s not sustainable without Trump and the Electoral College advantage. If he loses, that would reduce, if not eliminate the influence of the MAGA crowd. If he wins, it would cement their unsustainable influence.

My Mom generally feels that the Repub and Dem presidential candidates are awful (I do, too) and she usually votes for the Green candidate. I asked her if she was voting for Jill this year, she says she probably will. Personally, I’m tired of voting against people, I’d rather vote for someone. I liked Nikki Haley, and I’m a bit surprised that Trump didn’t take her on as VP (as I’m surprised that Harris didn’t take on Shapiro) …it would have sewed up the election for Trump, much as Gov. Shapiro would have sewed up the election for Harris.

Says something about our political system that two “real” politicians are cast aside in favor of the two candidates on the ballot.

I continue to believe that a confluence of factors make things ripe for more significant change starting in 2028:  the Trump/Maga effect, unsustainable deficits, a less stable world, etc.  feel like whoever wins there will be a lot of noise but no substantive decision making.  Of course, most predictions are wrong, starting with mine

Agree with GR.  A Trump loss will float thousands of conspiracy theories, but I believe (or hope might be a better word) the Republican party will develop a bull pen of pragmatic conservatives that moderates and independents will find appealing.
