This is just a micro-look into one narrowly defined group.
In 1975, 254 golfers took part in PGA tour events. Seven of them were citizens of other countries, 247 were American citizens.
Fifty years later, in 2025, 252 golfers have taken part in PGA tour events (so far). 163 are Americans. Here is the table by country of origin:
United States 163
England 9
Australia 8
Canada 7
Republic of Korea 7
Sweden 7
South Africa 6
Japan 5
Denmark 4
France 4
Germany 4
Argentina 3
Scotland 3
Belgium 2
Chinese Taipei 2
Colombia 2
Ireland 2
Italy 2
Norway 2
Austria 1
Chile 1
Fiji 1
Finland 1
New Zealand 1
Northern Ireland 1
People’s Rep of China 1
Philippines 1
Puerto Rico 1
Venezuela 1
BTW, I like the way the PGA Tour site references Taiwan. Ever sensitive, they refer to it as “Chinese Taipei.”
My point? Yes, immigration eliminates jobs from American citizens. But, what else is new, and who cares, and American citizenship doesn’t matter when you have (fundamentally) open borders.
I would rather the teachers of America be straight with American students and tell them that they aren’t being prepared for the real world, and that immigrants have the advantage, and will likely always have the advantage, and being an American citizen is not only not special, it is to your detriment.
