MickParticipantMamdani was sworn in as the 111th Mayor of New York, a city with more people than 38 states. He’s barely 34, a dedicated populist/socialist who is anti-Israel and now oversees a city with a work force of 300,000 people.
He’s keeping Police Commissioner Tisch. 3,500 public defenders and legal service attorneys are objecting, claiming she’s against protest.
The ADL says that 20% of mamdani’s administrative appointees are tied to anti-Zionist groups, including those who have gone on record supporting Hamas’ October 7 attack.
Mamdani intends to dismantle the NYPD’s strategic response group. His transition team includes Alex Vitale, a Brooklyn College prof whose best known book is titled “The End of Policing.”
Zohran Mamdani is every bit as bad as many New Yorkers feared
Took his oath on a Quran:
The Mamdani era begins – POLITICO
It’ll be fun to watch New York’s transition to a majority Muslim city.
In Mamdani’s New York, Muslims become a political and demographic force

MickParticipantMamdani is joining the nurses on the picket line. Here’s the key line:
“The union’s ask would hike the average nurse’s salary from $162,000 to $272,000 per year; it also objects to members being asked to contribute to their pensions, something most private-sector workers must do.”
AYFKM? $272k and the government must foot the pension bill.
What will Mamdani do when he runs out of other people’s money…in about five minutes?
By the way, the contract demand would prevent drunk or stoned nurses from getting fired.
Mayor Mamdani just joined the nurses’ picket line against himself

MickParticipantZohran is inheriting a $12 billion city deficit in a city which has the highest taxes in the country. Can’t wait to see how he addresses it.
His comptroller said that overwhelming spending is the problem, so of course Mamdani wants to increase taxes on the rich…

MickParticipantZohran is inheriting a $12 billion city deficit in a city which has the highest taxes in the country. Can’t wait to see how he addresses it. NYC faces $12B budget deficit, drawing comparison to 2008 financial crisis – as Zohran Mamdani uses dire forecast to push taxing the rich His comptroller said that overwhelming spending is the problem, so of course Mamdani wants to increase taxes on the rich…
Budget deficit is currently down to $5.4 billion. Mamdani has planned a 9.5% property tax increase along with a $1 billion withdrawal from the city’s reserve funds. State law requires a balanced budget. Higher-than-expected tax revenues from the COVID era are now gone, and the generous federal aid has (as you might expect) vanished.
Mamdani has also called for raising taxes on corporations and wealthy New Yorkers to fund his expansion of city services.

ParticipantThe number of politicians who reflexively condemned Islamophobia was impressive. Great job, everyone
