We’re starting to see neo-Confederate nullification movement” is starting to be seen within the contemporary Democratic party. There are governors who openly, literally, candidly say that federal immigration law will not be enforced within their state, county, and local jurisdictions.
These governors have not read Article Six of the Constitution and are completely ignorant of history and where nullification of federal law leads to. It has led to open street violence. Pritzker and Newsom have said they don’t want the Federal government coming onto Federal property and enforcing Federal law.
These governors are the logical successors to segregationists like George Wallace and other states’ rights advocates who try to nullify the federal government. This path leads from Bleeding Kansas to Harper’s Ferry to Fort Sumter.
