      Best of luck to them. What a great country we live in that such lunacy can exist. Still, the  collective idiocy is staggering. And the reporter tried very hard to paint a noble picture of these morons. Stolen car v two young aa lives. That’s how the genius justifies himself.
      Just don’t move to red states and bring your voting patterns along Ya hear.

      I found this quote from the story to be a wonderful statement of the stupidity of our times…

      “We are not going to kick the can down the road, push people out of public spaces when they have nowhere else to go,” Park Board President Jono Cowgill told the Tribune. “This is not a sustainable, dignified solution for folks who are experiencing homelessness right now, and the state needs to step up.”

      If I’m not mistaken, over 80% of police funding is covered by local tax payers. They can reallocate their public safety funding if they choose.  They can try to solve their homelessness problem with this revenue. I’m not going to lose any sleep over their decision to turn their community into an unlivable “utopia”.

      But it’s a laugh that all these folks always think the answer is more of other people’s money; “the state needs to step up”.  The state and local folks all face the same choice, the same absolute requirement as a fiduciary with responsibility for public funds. They have to live within their means. The alternatives are coming into sharp focus. Raise the taxes until the taxpayers bail or reduce your spending.

      I surely hope the commitment to the fundamental responsibilities that are part of citizenship in a participatory democracy are sufficient to overcome the “more free stuff” crowd.  I’m not at all certain it is.  I fear the pandemic payoffs are underwriting the ambitions of the wrong team.

      Here's a toast with one last pour, may it last forever and a minute more;
      Good fortune seems to you have sung, to live and love way past long
