Supposedly lifting Russian sanctions to ease the price of oil, but of course it was meaningless. Oil prices went up when he lifted the sanctions. I’m sure Trump is totally not in the bag for Russia, though.
Ask yourself why he has a real estate / business guy as his chief negotiator for Russia (Witkoff), rather than an actual competent expert on Russia, Ukraine, diplomacy, etc. Because his focus is on getting great business deals with Russia (for himself, included), not on diplomacy.
Meanwhile, Russia is helping out Iran. But of course they pay no penalty (rewarded, actually).
