Mick1ParticipantAcross the country, people can’t believe that DOGE actually happened, particularly the Lefties. You put two businessmen in charge of government, and the world’s best businessman in charge of making government efficient, and you’re going to get a few broken eggs before you get the omelet.
DOGE happened because we’ve all had these experiences similar to these:
- Misery at the DMV. What should be a quick in-and-out is excruciating.
- Misery at the IRS. My last three appointments (1) didn’t show, (2) was two hours late and smelled of alcohol, (3) took two hours on the phone for what should have been a 10 minute discussion.
- Misery at the post office: an elderly lady was at the counter trying to send a package, and those of us in line were treated to the following conversation: LADY: “Can I have two six-inch strips of packing tape? I ran out.” Postal worker: “No. We’re not allowed to do that.” LADY: “Just two strips from that dispenser right in back of you.” PW: “No. For the last time we can’t do that. Rules.” She leaves. The PW laughs and says to his fellow PW’s behind the counter “I wonder why she thought we would give her packing tape?” The guy in front of me said “Because both UPS and FedEx do it.” That shut them up.
- The laziest person I know is a Socialist, who literally told me that she should make what I make while working 20 hours a week while I work 60 hours a week. Why? To quote her “Because working is your thing, man…it’s not my thing.” She’s a teacher. She got into teaching because she thought she could have summers off and be done by 3 p.m. every day. Two years in, she told me “I didn’t think it would be real work.” BTW, this teacher’s total compensation package in 2024 was worth $333,710.96, I kid you not. If you want to find a California employee’s comp, go to http://www.transparentcalifornia.com
It just annihilates me that this lazy Socialist makes so much, but what’s even more interesting is that as she’s climbed the income scale, she’s turning Republican…sort of. She is convinced she pays too much in taxes.
Have I come to the conclusion that the government is largely an employment agency for the marginally competent? Kinda, yeah. But at the same time, there are some excellent, hard-working people in the government. My father-in-law, NASA scientist and Stanford PhD. My brother, a public defender in San Diego. But frankly…the government has no interest in efficiency, not really, so we got to this environment where DOGE will act as a cleaver because the government refused to use a scalpel.

ParticipantProbably surprising to no one, both sides of aisle pound their collective chest about reducing fraud, waste and abuse until it actually comes to doing something.
If Elon had been Biden’s pick for this, Dems would have been taking a victory lap. Of course, anything uncovered would have been buried immediately.
