Mick1ParticipantI can only hope these relos aren’t Cali demtards taking their same F ed up libtard politics and voting patterns with them to whenever they move.
I think most Californians understand that the west coast in general and California in particular is an oasis for lefty thinkers, and once they leave, their protections vanish, so to speak.
A college friend of mine left Orange County for Southlake, TX and now considers himself a Texan, down to the cowboy hat and boots. Another good friend was 75 pounds overweight, hating life, and left Silicon Valley for Denver, Colorado. He dropped the weight quickly, and really enjoys Colorado. And to be frank…as much as I hated the weather, I really enjoyed my time in Detroit and Washington, DC. Thinking about moving back, tbh.

Mick1ParticipantThis is the second time Biden has removed the people involved investigating Hunter. The first time was in Ukraine where as VP, he basically blackmailed the government to fire the guy, or they won’t get the funding he was promising. He then bragged about it afterwards…
I remember that. I was flat out stunned that Biden’s blatant blackmail, though made publicly on television, wasn’t called out by the mainstream press.
What am I saying? Of course the mainstream press gave him a free pass.

Mick1ParticipantApparently Senator Kennedy excoriated Greg Becker in hearings for his stupid gamble. Bipartisan pressure at its finest for the most incompetent bank CEO in history.

Mick1ParticipantI don’t think anyone is surprised when the government investigators fail to act appropriately. The stupidly -named “Crossfire Hurricane” apparently was poorly conducted to absolutely no one’s surprise.

I’m not a Trump supporter, but that entire process was faulty.

Mick1ParticipantIf you’re referring to Trump as a Fascist, my take is that Trump is more of an opportunist with a whiff of anarcho-narcissist. Trump and his followers aren’t Fascist, they’re basically anti-Fascist: they want the State to step aside.
Given the Democratic party’s obvious attempts at almost all levels to reduce the American political landscape to a single-party state, it is clear that the Fascists are on the left.

Mick1ParticipantToo bad it’s behind the WSJ paywall. I’ll take flyer here. I believe 70% of Americans favor LEGAL immigration, not the shit show that is happening now. There are roughly 40 M people in the country living below the poverty line who want and deserve a better life for themselves and their families. Is it too much to ask liberals to help those who are already here first?
You’re right on both counts. And 12.3% of Californians live below the poverty line. That’s 4,797,000 people, more than the populations of Delaware, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, Alaska, and Vermont combined.

Mick1ParticipantThe Republicans will hold their feet to the fire, the Democrats will claim the Republicans want to destroy America as the Republicans seek limits on the Federal credit card…and this, after inflation has crushed Middle America, the Dems want more.
They’ll do a deal. It’ll be bad for everyone. Dog bites man…

Mick1ParticipantBecause of inflation, my savings are worth 1/3 less, and I need to generate higher returns to keep pace. In all likelihood, Gen Z may not get to retire if current trends continue. Also, it is draining Social Security at a faster pace.
This has been part of a long term trend. Not just Gen Z, but Gen X and — to be frank — the back half of the Baby Boomers won’t be able to retire. We’ll work until we die, most of us. The money just isn’t there. The so-called “Greatest Generation” made out like bandits, the Silent Generation did well, the first half of the Baby Boomers will get a subpar return, the rest of us will get kicked in the balls. I’ve been saying this since I was 25.
The money won’t be there.
Between me and my employers, I have paid over $400k into Social Security. If I work until 70, I’ll get $4,530 a month. Average life expectancy — and I’m in heart failure, so that is probably unlikely — is about eight more years, or 96 months. 96 months times the $4,530 is $434k. Had I invested that money in the stock market at average stock market rate, my earnings would have put me just under $1 mms.
I’ll make the following offer to the Federal government. Give me half of my total contributions — $200k — right now, and let me out of the system, with no further payments due to me. I’d take that deal in a heartbeat.
As far as I’m concerned, so-called Social Security is a lie, a Ponzi scheme, a front-loaded bonus from FDR until about 10 years ago, and the rest of us are screwed.

Mick1ParticipantI agree with RodgePodge. But if these rich prick demtards don’t care about the crime in our cities or the open border invasions, why would they even care about this? They are insulated from the troubles of the Plebians. So a GOP driven wake up call will just give them more fingers to point at their nemesis.
It drives me crazy that Dems point to Trump and Republicans as being responsible for the deficit. It was high after WWII (of course), then decreased through Republican administrations, increased with Reagan, Bush and Clinton, started to decrease in Clinton’s second term, stayed flat (relatively) with Bush II, then absolutely skyrocketed with Obama. Rate actually started to slow with Trump, and has persistently increased with Biden.

Mick1ParticipantI’ve been thinking about voter fraud a bit. Last year, I sent in my absentee ballot. I received a notice about two weeks later that my ballot had been rejected because of irregularities.
Sounds like a foolproof system.

Mick1ParticipantSounds like Sleepy Joe will be Landslide Joe. The Dems will capture both houses of Congress, make Medicare for all the law of the land, institute the Green New Deal, add 49 associate justices to the U.S. Supreme Court, permanently revoke every single one of Trump’s E.O.’s on day 1, sentence Trump to the rest of his life in the same prison cell that Epstein “killed himself” with presumably the same result, raise wealth taxes to 90% for everyone who owns a house and a car, raise income taxes to 70%, exonerate Hunter Biden and every single member of the Deep State, outlaw the first amendment, the second amendment and the Republican party, and issue Antifa uniforms to all.
It’s going to be a liberal paradise, until the Chinese take over. Should be fun.

Mick1Participantit’s interesting to try to talk with Democrats about the above. They’re not interested, they downplay it, didn’t matter, look how bad Trump is!!!
I’ve tried to discuss it with my mother, a committed lefty. She is convinced that Hillary’s e-mail problems were…a Republican plot.

Mick1Participant
I guess taking Trump is a good to great bet. Since I am not a bettor, I don’t like this format by the way. This format doesn’t reflect the odds of who is going to win but what it would take for someone to bet on the underdog. Weird way of thinking. More and more it is looking to me like the pollsters are wrong again, given the magnitude of the variances. Biden by 5 sure. Biden by 13 give me a f ING break. Are you sampling NY, SF and Seattle? Only? do these guys have bosses or do they not mind being grossly wrong for the cause of dethroning Orange man. Mick, a final question for you to ponder: if you were a “ shy Trump voter” are you more or less likely to tell a pollster which way you will vote this year v/s 2016. At least four years ago, you were just deplorable, This time, if you vote for Trump, you are a racist, xenophobe, anti Semitic, gay hating, science denying cretin.
I don’t even tell my dog that I’m voting for Trump. I don’t want my slippers chewed to shreds.
I wouldn’t tell anyone. Period. Too much down side for candor. I think lots of folks feel that.
