You might remember that Bill Joy, co-founder of Sun Microsystems and former Chief Scientist of Silicon Graphics, penned a 35,000-word screed against artificial intelligence technologies, and an article for Wired magazine titled “Why the Future Doesn’t Need Us” all the way back in 2000.

AI Poses ‘Extinction’ Risk, Say Experts | Barron’s (barrons.com)

So…do you think AI poses a serious risk to the human race? If so…when?

A history of the “Butlerian Jihad,” the fight against AI that resulted in the world in “Dune.”

I, Robot. The Multivac (The Last Question). The M-5. The Cylons. HAL. Terminator. and on and on. Even Max Headroom. Not a novel idea that AI may control or  wipe humanity out. Am I concerned. Only mildly so far, though I think there will be real issues over the next 20 to 30 years as tech and AI continue to evolve. We need the ability to pull the plug, and that may soon be gone.

Ex Machina was an excellent depiction of the threat posed by AI.  Very under-recognized film.

        Now that’s some wild stuff.

        Shall we play a game?

        How about Global Thermonuclear War?

With all the talk about AI taking over the world, there has been a similar amount of discussion about UFOs and alien craft all over the news. Two questions, if they are indeed alien species and crafts, how did they prevent AI from taking over their worlds, and two might they really machines created already by AI here on Earth?

Please share your opinions while I go find a new aluminum foil hat. . . .
