cardcrimsonParticipantThe American Ornithological Society is changing the names of hundreds of bird species.
“Across the globe, many eponymous names were coined in the 18th and 19th centuries as white naturalists “discovered” new birds in territories previously held by non-white peoples, naming them after the original collectors of bird specimens, fellow scientists, other prominent figures of the time, and even their family members.
A small but growing contingent of birders had been aware for years that these names could be harmful or exclusionary, given many honor people now understood to have committed racist acts, and had begun to favor moving away from them.”
No doubt the movement is spearheaded by publishers of bird books and their authors to sell updated and politically correct books. Just stupid.

There is a lot of self-hatred in play when the woke mind virus works best.

cardcrimsonParticipantThe initiative’s main goal is to help make birding—and bird conservation—more inclusive and welcoming to people of all backgrounds. Some three billion birds have disappeared from North America since 1970—and amid habitat loss, collisions with windows, threats from cats and climate change, birds need all the help they can get to reverse their decline.
First, I’ve birded all my life, and not once did I ever look up who a bird was named after, nor did I care. It’s stupid to think this will make birding more inclusive.
Second, I love how they didn’t mention the single largest killer of migratory birds–wind turbines.

Third, so long to the Canada Goose and the American Pipit, as both countries are systemically racist. Goodbye Mexican Jay, too. The Carolina Wren? With their bathroom laws? Could go on and on. . . .

Mick1ParticipantA generation ago, the term was political correctness instead of woke, or as George Carlin put it, politically correct was America’s new form of intolerance especially pernicious becomes it comes disguised as tolerance. Political correctness is Fascism pretending to be manners. Joseph Stalin popularized the term “politically correct” incidentally.

Mick1ParticipantAnd in a (somewhat) anti-woke movement, MGM’s acclaimed new movie American Fiction tells story of African-American writer who jokingly pens book filled with black stereotypes that’s lauded by powerful white liberals:
