California has done a 180 on nuclear, apparently. Recall earlier this year, Gavin Newsom was at a press conference touting the closure of Diablo Canyon.
Stop the closure of Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant
Now, he’s flipped his position. I wonder if it is a response to Michael Shellenberger’s candidacy. In the meantime, California is refusing to try building more nuclear power in Southern California, and (in a related note) rejected a desalination plant that would require a lot of power.
Newsom has a lot of money, but I hope Shellenberger gets some traction. He’s not a doctor (his first and middle initials are MD), but he’s solution oriented, not politically oriented, so his policies are better thought-out than what we’re being peddled.
