Direct Democracy Dies in California – WSJ

Democrats hold every statewide office in California and super-majorities in California’s Legislature. Apparently that’s not enough. So now they are seeking to entrench this power by making it harder for voters to block their laws.

I would like to put a ballot measure on to go back to the old ways of voting.  Maybe a la carte?  Voter ID, ballot harvesting y/n, auditing / evidence preservation, no more universal mail-in ballots (still available on request), and same day counting (no more 2 weeks for results) would all be fair game.  I think the majority of California voters don’t want it taking 2 weeks to count ballots, and want a more transparent system.

The Dems already got the Gascon recall tossed on flimsy grounds.  Doesn’t exactly inspire a lot of confidence in our voting systems, regardless of which party is in power.
