Criticism of the NY Times oped discussing decriminalization of drugs.

Much like Newsom’s homeless policy took a system that works: shelter first, treatment first, housing earned; and flipped it on its head (“housing first”) and then spread it throughout the state, San Francisco’s drug policy is taking the Portuguese model and flipping it on its head, in the name of progress.  Now Portland has bastardized it and gotten San Francisco results.

I was in SF last summer and passed a storefront that had a placard out front that said “We love drug addicts.”

I thought it was a shame, and then realized so does Starbucks.
