  Lest you join BlueAnon re: the accident and the ECP braking rule, here’s a good summary from the NTSB director re: the accident. The bearing failed a good 30 miles away. Two detectors failed to detect the overheated bearing. The engineers slammed on the brakes once the detection system alerted them, but even ECP brakes wouldn’t have made a difference once the bearing started to affect the axle.
